Rick Bakas is globally recognized as a thought leader in the world of wine and social media. As the first Director of Social Media in the wine industry, he influenced new ideas and new concepts that connect wineries to new consumers through tweetup tours and global online wine tastings.

Rick specializes in translating personal and corporate brands to new media. He is the founder and adviser at Bakas Media, a new media branding agency in San Francisco. Rick has been socializing with people online since the mid 1980′s where he was an early adopter to usenet groups and America Online.

Over the last twenty years, Rick has gravitated to new social sites where he naturally finds conversations about new media, online business and wine. Rick learned the art of branding during eight years at NIKE where he worked on branding projects for Team Jordan, NIKE Basketball as well as the NFL’s Denver Broncos, New York Giants and the NCAA’s University of Oregon.

Rick began applying his branding knowledge to the social web in 2006, first by building his own personal brand then the brands of other businesses. In October 2010 Rick started Bakas Media in the interest of offering his expertise in building brands online including high profile clients British Airways, Wine.com and ABC’s Bachelor Ben Flajnik .
